Our Services

Expert Techniques

Gentle joint mobilisation, soft tissue massage, and stretching tailored specifically to you.

Patient Recovery

We work within your comfort levels to create a management plan for pain-free living.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a widely used and holistic form of physical therapy supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It considers the body as a unit, meaning that osteopaths address the root cause of a patient’s symptoms rather than just the area of pain.

Chiropractic Neck Adjustment

At Body Align Osteo, your osteopath will take a thorough and detailed history of your presenting complaint, while also considering your lifestyle, work and activity levels. This helps us diagnose, treat and create a management plan that is tailored specifically to you.

During treatment, a range of hands-on techniques may be used, such as soft tissue massage, stretching, joint mobilisation and myofascial release. Your practitioner will always explain what they are doing and work within your comfort levels.

Conditions osteopathy can help with

Osteopaths treat a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Tendinopathy (e.g. Achilles, rotator cuff, golfer’s and tennis elbow)
  • Sporting injuries
  • Neck and lower back pain
  • Joint pain and arthritis
  • Headaches
  • Muscle strains
  • Nerve pain
  • Repetitive strain injuries
  • Plantar fasciitis and foot pain

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy, also known as Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic pulses, delivering energy into the tissue to stimulate healing, reduce pain and improve function. It is used to improve blood flow to the area to accelerate healing of many acute and chronic conditions. During your consultation, your osteopath will advise if this treatment is suitable for you.

Shockwave therapy is used for a variety of conditions including:
  • Scar Tissue
  • Chronic pain
  • Acute sports injuries
  • Shoulder pain
  • Lower back pain
  • Hip pain
  • Tendinopathy
  • Delayed fracture healing
  • Calcific tendinitis of the shoulder
  • Shin splints
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Myofascial trigger points
Pain Relief

Shockwave therapy can provide an immediate reduction in pain by inhibiting pain signals leading to the brain. Stimulating the healing process of tissues provides long term pain reduction

Tissue Repair

By improving blood flow to the surrounding tissues, this will reduce inflammation, boost oxygen and stimulate cell growth to enhance tissue repair.

Reduce Muscular tension

Shockwave therapy can be used on trigger points in the muscle to assist with muscular relaxation and improve your overall flexibility and range of motion.

Reduce Calcification

A commonly used adjunct to osteopathic treatment tShockwave therapy can assist with calcific tendons by breaking down the calcium deposits in the long term which will reduce stiffness and improve your range of motion.o reduce pain and tension in the muscle.

Non-Invasive Treatment

Shockwave is a highly effective treatment for acute and chronic conditions. It is a great alternative non-invasive treatment that can be used when other modalities are not improving your condition.

Versatility

Can be used on a variety of conditions, doesn’t require any down time post treatment.

What to expect?

Many people will experience a reduction in their pain immediately as well as in the long term. Treatment will last for a few minutes and for it to have therapeutic benefits, will be used within tolerable pain levels for you. Side effects may include local redness or tenderness lasting 24-48hrs, similar to any other treatment.

Exercise Rehabilitation

Exercise Rehabilitation is an evidence-based approach to assist you in recovering from injury, overcoming acute or chronic pain as well as improving your overall mobility and function. Your osteopath will tailor a program suited to your goals, lifestyle, activity levels and condition.

In the early stages of your injury, the main focus will be on restoring movement, function and flexibility. encouraging your body to move when high levels are pain are still present. Your osteopath will prescribe relatively pain free movements suited to you to encourage your body to still move.

As you improve, your osteopath will progress your exercises to incorporate strength and endurance, and if you are returning to sport, speed and power. In our onsite gym during your session, your osteopath can guide you through technique, strength testing to find your weaknesses and assist you with returning to sport. All exercise rehabilitation programs will then be provided to you after your consult for you to continue at home. Exercise, strength and mobility are important during all stages of life.

Exercise rehabilitation is commonly used for:
  • Post surgery
  • Return to sport
  • Improving balance during later stages of life
  • Managing chronic pain
  • Acute injuries
  • Improving posture
  • Reducing your chance of reinjury

Dry Needling

Dry needling is commonly used as an adjunct to osteopathic treatment. Dry needling uses fine, monofilament needles (similar to those used in acupuncture) and are inserted into muscle trigger points or knots in the muscle. This can trigger a local twitch response (brief muscle contraction) that helps reduce pain and tension in the muscle. It improves localised blood flow to the area which encourages delivery of nutrients and removal of inflammatory/waste products.

Dry needling differs to acupuncture in that dry needling targets trigger points (knots) in the muscle, whereas acupuncture in Traditional Chinese Medicine targets energy flow known as qi along pathways (meridians) throughout the body. Needles are inserted in certain points along these meridians to achieve balance in energy flow.

Dry needling can be used with electrical stimulation also known as E-Stim. This is where an electrical current is conducted through the needles and down into the muscle. This helps activate inhibited muscles secondary to tightness and knots within the muscle.

This improves the muscle's ability to contract, assisting with better activation during rehabilitation. Electrostimulation is found to be more effective in improving pain and function than dry needling alone. It speeds up the process of improving blood flow to the affected area to reduce waste products, improve pain and reduce inflammation.

Common conditions treated with dry needling:
  • Muscular strains or pain
  • Headaches
  • Tendinopathy
  • Golfers/Tennis elbow
  • Neck pain
  • Back pain
  • Chronic pain
  • Shoulder impingement

Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial cupping is an innovative technique used to treat musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Unlike traditional cupping which uses heat or static suction, myofascial cupping uses specifically designed cups to create a negative pressure (suction) above the surface of the tissues. This suction helps to separate the layers of fascia and muscle, promoting increased blood flow, lymphatic drainage, and reduced tissue tension.

Myofascial cupping is commonly used to treat:
  • Neck pain
  • Mid and lower back pain
  • Muscular pain and tightness
  • Shoulder pain
  • ITB syndrome

Infrared Laser Therapy

Infrared Laser Therapy, also known as Photobiomodulation therapy – PBM is a non-invasive, treatment which is a painless alternative to reduce musculoskeletal pain without the use of pain medication. It helps improve blood flow to tissues through vasodilation which in turn helps deliver oxygenated blood to the area to assist with the healing process of tissues, reduce inflammation and reduce pain. Infrared Laser Therapy can be used to treat a variety of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions such as shoulder pain, chronic neck, back or joint pain, arthritis, sports injuries and plantar fasciitis.
